THE CONTINENTAL
SHIFT
NFL rules through three quarters. A modified Canadian-style shift in the fourth.
For the first three quarters, CoFL games follow traditional NFL rules. Then the fourth quarter changes the game.
The Continental Shift introduces a faster, more urgent style inspired by Canadian football concepts — increasing drama, discouraging teams from sitting on a lead, and keeping fans locked in until the final score.
